Andreas Bierwirth, born in 1971, was CEO of Magenta Telekom with 2400 employees for ten years before moving to Erste Bank Group in the fall of 2022. In 2019, he was named Manager of the Year in Austria. Bierwirth has always been fascinated by flying, holds a commercial pilot license and a valid C525 type rating.
He originally began his career as a banker, then studied business administration at the University of Münster and earned a doctorate in marketing. He began his management career in 2002 with the establishment of Germanwings as a low-cost airline within the Lufthansa Group. After taking over the management of Lufthansa's Miles & More program, he joined the Executive Board of Austrian Airlines in 2008 and later became CEO of Magenta Telekom. He is also involved as a board member of Easyjet and Do&Co and is part of the team of the European Forum Alpbach, which promotes ideas for a self-determined and democratic Europe and brings together young people, scientists, business leaders and politicians.
